Prior to building Jacobs Field, two different proposals were made in the late 1980's. First, a two sport dome concept on the Jacobs Field site was floated. Later, Browns owner Art Modell proposed a renovation of Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Neither was realized and Jacobs Field was eventually built.
