In 2002, the Twins and the City of St. Paul commissioned a study to look at potential ballpark sites in and around downtown St. Paul. Five options were considered: 1) Gateway; 2) North Quadrant; 3) Lowertown; 4) Lower Landing; 5) River Flats. Many designs/layouts were considered some with roofs, some without. The Gateway site emerged as the favored location. Plans ultimately fell through due to a lack of infrastructure.
