In the late 1990’s, the site favored by the Yankees for a replacement for Yankee Stadium was over the rail yards on the west side of Manhattan. The first image below shows a concept of how a ballpark would look at the site. The second image is a mockup of how the New Yankee Stadium
would look with the West Side skyline. The Yankees weren’t successful in getting a ballpark at this site and it was later used as a centerpiece of the failed NYC2012 Summer Olympics bid.
