This plan for a retractable roofed Yankee Stadium was unveiled in late 2001. The dome was to be built across 161st Street from Old Yankee Stadium in Macombs Dam Park. These plans were scrapped by 2004 when designs for the final New Yankee Stadium were unveiled. The elimination of the retractable roof was credited with saving $200M in the construction costs on the final project.
