In 1986, with the White Sox looking to replace the aging Comiskey Park, this plan for a 45,000 seat retractable dome was considered. At some point, plans changed to a roof-less version of the park. The HOK Sport designed park would have been approximately 30 miles northwest of Comiskey in suburban Addison Illinois. The ballpark plan was put to a referendum in November 1986 but failed by a thin 43 vote margin.
